The Process

We are often asked what's involved in the design and construction of a website? How does the process start? The following describes a typical scenario for a simple website.

1. We ascertain

   Who is the client's market?
   
   Wherever possible we call on the client to get a better understanding of their business. This initial consultation is free.

   We prepare a written specification to ensure we have understood the needs of our client.

2. We provide

   A written specification to ensure we have understood the client's requirements. When this has been agreed on we provide a quotation.

3. We require

   A logo. We can arrange a logo design. eg www.michaelfrance.com.au was created from a client's sketch.
   

   Photos emailed to us or supplied on a disc or emailed. We can also scan original photos. We can arrange professional photography.

   Text to be emailed to us - can be faxed but that increases the cost. We can arrange professional copywriting.

4. We then

   Produce a suggested flat look to be approved by the client.

   On approval we create the website in a test area and only when fully tested and approved is it launched live.

   We also code pages to increase chances of good rankings in Google and others. We always test the home page with a Meta tag Analyser to ensure we gain an excellent analysis report.

5. Costs

   There are three cost components to a website

   Domain name - eg acme.com.au - $66 for two years

   Web hosting - where the website is going to 'sit'. We host for clients at an average of $165pa including a full set of site statistics.

   These statistics show details of traffic throughout a website and enables a client to determine what pages are most popular, how long they spend in what page etc. Good to use when monitoring a marketing campaign.
   

   Website development - costs vary according to work required - Under $1000 for a standard website.
